Can making friends online help with someone with anxiety?

I mean if you have isolated yourself for the past 2 years from anything social (including school because you left reg. school to go to online school) but you found a chat room that you love to be in so you are there like 12-14 hours a day, can that help you feel not so much anxiety. If you are accepted in the chat will it help you in the real world too? If not then please tell me why? I am talking about a 17 yr old guy. Thanks

No it will not help it seems as though you or your friend is suffering from a social phobia disorder, which means you have the fear of being negatively evaluated by others. You should seek some form of psychotherapy.
